Ann Barter, by ga in 1834, Jas ADAIR MD - - - - - - Anne - - - - - - - - son The marriage & christening records for Tillicoultry, Clackmannan, Scotland show : James Baxter Makittrick ADAIR (b.1765 ?) & Charlotte Hamilton had son : James Warner Baxter ADAIR b. 9 Jan 1792 chr. 6 Feb 1792. (James ADAIR m. 17 Oct 1789 Charlotte Hamilton) Would Warner be another family surname ? ................................................ James Makittrick b.1728, (refer Thickness and anti-slavery) (Physician in West Indies, was he relative of Patrick Adair who m. Ann Touchet ?) d.1801 Ayr, buried Alloway, Carrick, Ayrshire, (left will ?) (1st wife ?) Ann Adair, prev. of Kirkmaiden, Wigtownshire ? (assumed wife's surname ?) (may have been dau. of Robert Adair & Miss Dunbar of Maryport ?) ................................ James Makittrick ADAIR married Maria BARRELL (from Faculty Office Marriage Allegations dated 20 Jul 1791). His will is filed with the Bank of England (Bk 35 date 1801-3) where he is described as MD of Ayr, North Britain. Did he go to America c.1793 and write a letter from Dublin to Thomas Jefferson, in the Letters of George Washington. Letter was about claiming his wife's inheritance, but which James McKittrick and which wife (after 1792 ?) .............................................................................................. Dr. James McKittrick ADAIR, b. 1765 at ........? Studied at Geneva. Graduated at Edinburgh University. The alumni of Edinburgh - Jac Makittrick ADAIR Scottus, Medicine 1789 James McKittrick ADAIR m.1789 Charlotte Hamilton b. 1763 and she d.1806 Edinburgh. Friends of Robbie Burns. Practiced in Pleasance, Edinburgh then in Harrogate They had 5 children. Was one of their children : James McKILTRICK Adair, physician had widow, ADAIR Barbara 4/9/1821 Mrs., alias McIlwraith, residing in Newton upon Ayr Her will (?) at Glasgow Sheriff Court Settlements.(Scottish wills) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
