Author: GordonPertJohnson Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.general/21641.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The 1901 census (and any other UK census) is based solely on written returns from the householder (every household was issued with a form to fill in), so the spelling in the census return should be correct for the name of the Inn, whether written by the householder or the enumerator delivering the form - copied from the sign!
