She lived with her daughter Margaret Adeline Gates and son-in-law James Ross they had 7 children. All where born in Canada with the exception of my ggrandmother Eliza Jane Ross (the oldest) who was born in Ireland as were her parents. They came to Canada around 1840 and settled in Reach Ontario Canada. Jane Gates is not in any census before 1881 and is identified as :Jane GATES W Female Scottish age 95 Scotland Presbyterian . Jane died on 12 April 1882 in Reach Township, aged 95 years, 9 months, widow, b. Scotland; informant was James Ross, yeoman, Reach. Any information about the Rosses or the Gates in Scotland would be most helpfull as I am planning a trip to the U.K. this year and would like to do educated research on my lineage while I am there.
