She said her father told her it had something to do with where and who they came from. Does anyone know more about this? Also, this cousin passed along a little bit of info she acquired from another cousin who's grandfather had done a little family research. The info said that "the McFall family dates back to the barons of Scotland. They fought for the King of Scotland and were forced to flee to Ireland. Because of the unfavorable conditions in Ireland, three of the McFalls came to America. One settled in the west; another in the south; Charles settled in Pennsylvania and later lived among the Indians." Her info is all rather vague and I'm wondering if anyone can elaborate on any of this information. Who/what were the barons of Scotland? What King of Scotland did they fight for? How long were they in Ireland...a few years? A few generations? Here is the little info on my McFall ancestors...it's not much, but maybe some of the names will ring a bell with someone. My grandmother - Margaret Beatrice Tanner b. 21 Dec 1914, daughter of Florence Beatrice McFall and Marcellus Melwood Tanner Florence Beatrice McFall b. 1864 Peoria, IL, daughter of Margaret Anne Wiley and Hugh Blair McFall Hugh Blair McFall b. 16 July 1826 m. 5 Sept 1850 IL d. 16 Aug 1910 IL, son of Charles McFall and Jeanetta Cohenus (sp?) Charles McFall b. 5 April 1799 PA m. 21 Sept 1819 d. 1 June 1880, son of Charles McFall and Hannah Thomas Charles McFall (McPhail) b. 1760 VA I'm confused though...is this Charles, supposedly born in Virgina, the son of yet another Charles, who came from Scotland/Ireland, or is the info wrong and he is actually the one who came from Scotland/Ireland? If anyone has any info they can share on this family I would greatly appreciate it. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In my book of Clans & Tartans, McFALL is a Sept of Clan MacINTOSH. Years ago, many people elevated the "c", and underlined it, with no explanation for same.
