    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jody17141 Surnames: Douglas, Douglass, Hunter, Phelps, Hauver Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.general/21670/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for Robert Douglas(s), b. approx. 1776 in Scotland. He was married to Jane Hunter (b. approx. 1786 in England). DNA testing has confirmed that Robert likely descended from the "Earls of Morton" line of Douglases, but how is he connected? Robert & Jane may have spent some time in Ireland, because their first child was supposedly born there in 1817. I have learned that they came to the U.S. with David Hunter (Jane's brother) and his wife Lydia Douglas (presumably Robert's sister) - not sure when or from where. By 1820 they were living in Vermont where the rest of their children were born. By the mid-1840's they were living in Stanbridge, Missisquoi Co., Quebec where they spent the rest of their lives. Both died and are buried in Stanbridge, Que. I will list their children in case that helps: Alexander (b. 1817 in Ireland?) - married Esther Phelps in Que., d. 1871 in Stanbridge Elizabeth (b. 1823 in Vt.) - married Hiram Hauver in Que., moved to Nebraska William (b. 1824 in Vt.) - married Mary (Watson?) in Que. David (b. 1826 in Vt., d. 1853 in Que.) Martha (b. 1827 in Vt., d. 1867 in Que.) Jane (b. 1830) - may have followed her sister to Nebraska John (b. 1833) - followed his sister to Nebraska Robert (b. 1834, d. 1867 in Que.) Lydia (b. 1837) - followed her sister to Nebraska I would really like to determine where Robert and Jane came from and who their parents were. These people are my big brick wall. Any leads are greatly appreciated! Jody Parker [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
