In response to above, my family who came from Dundee were using ancestors surnames as middle name early in the 1800's although not all children had the middle names, and it was both male & female. I found this helped in eventually finding some earlier ancestors which was great, and also tying in grandchildren as well. Cheers Heather Auck, NZ > ______________________________
