According to US Census information, my gggrandmother, Jane Hamilton was born in Scotland, and some of her children were born in Northern Ireland and some in Scotland. Jane's parents were Charles Hamilton and Elizabeth McReynolds. I believe Jane's husband, William Allen was northern Irish. The first child, Elizabeth Allen was said to be born in Scotland around 1848;I do not know if Jane and William were married in Scotland or Ireland. I have not found their marriage nor Elizabeth's birth in Ireland, but it was early for records. Elizabeth's death certificate and Jane's both say they were born in Scotland, as was an additional daughter's Anna Bella Allen, b. ~1869 Can you suggest where I should start in Scottish records? Since there were either from Co. Antrim or Co. Tyrone, can you suggest a good place to look in Scotland for northern Irish with Hamilton and McReynolds as surnames? All insight is welcome.
