I have no experience at all researching Scottish sources, so I don't know where to go. I'd like suggestions even if it's to pay-to-play sites. Also, I think one of the Walkers was born in 1808/9 in Port Glasgow, Scotland. I have no idea if Port Glasgow and Glasgow are the same place or not. Can someone clarify that for me? The actual people I'm working on are Thomas Walker, b. 8-8-1808/9 in Port Glasgow, Scotland, or just plain Glasgow, son of John Walker of Scotland. Married Isabel Perry, dau of John Perry of Scotland, possibly born 1818. These Walkers emigrated to Hemmingsford, Quebec, Canada by about 1835 and eventually ended up in Kane County, IL, by 1852, where most of their descendants hail from.
