My ancestor Michael Mc Nally supposedly came from Scotland and worked in south west Irealand as a sapper (military engineer as part of the 1980's Down Survey - land mapping) and married Mary Mc Carthy from Kenmare region, county Kerry, and had lots of children. I would ultimately love to find my Scottish roots but know nothing whatsoever about Michael Mc Nally ... I'm despairing as no church records etc ... can anybody advise ?
