He was born in Scotland and immigrated to New York between 1909-1914. He married my great grandmother, Minnie Ethel (Green) MacMillan in 1926, but divorced her in 1927 after they had a child (my grandmother, Doris MacMillan). Minnie Ethel and Doris never heard from him again, and he is a mystery to our family. All we know about him is that he was a gardener who worked on several prestigious estates in New York and Connecticut. I recently found a record of Neil in 1930 as an inmate in the Westchester County Almshouse in New York. My grandmother said her mother always assumed that he would end up there because of his alcoholic habits. Other than those facts, I have no idea of who he was while living in Scotland, or even when he died. Any information would be helpful.
