We look forward to providing relevant and exciting information for you at the new website. I'm also pleased to tell you that Robert J. Sutherland has recently joined me as co-administrator of the 'Sutherland DNA Project' . Robert started the new website, and is a biochemist, with formal training in the field of genetics from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, USA. I background includes a masters in business including statistics, and a deep interest in genetics, genealogy and Scottish history. Working together we hope to bring some help to other Sutherland's from around the world who are attempting to re-connect with their family heritage by learning more about their deep ancestry through modern day DNA analysis. By partnering with FTDNA, a reputable company which tests and analyzes only very small sections of only one of your 46 chromosomal DNA strands (the Y-chromosome strand only), we can fully recommend utilizing this type of genetic tool with confidence that your right to privacy will not be infringed upon. FTDNA does not perform testing of SNP's known to be suspected markers related to health. FTDNA is in the business of genetic genealogy, not genomic health. So if you get a chance, please visit our new website at your earliest convenience. We're hopeful after reviewing all of the benefits of analyzing your Y-Chromosomal DNA to learn about your genealogical past, that you will consider coming on board with the many hundreds of thousands of other folks who have decided to join DNA projects around the world. Any male Sutherland (Sutherlin, Southerland, etc) can sign up for the project and recieve a discount. We reccommend that they consider the Y-DNA67 test, on sale in December for $199.00 (Sutherland project group rate), which is regularly priced at $268.00 by FTDNA. Here's the link to order the test kit: http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Sutherland If the test is given as a gift, simply fill in their name for the kit and order. If you've already taken the DNA test with FTDNA, or at another lab, please send us your results and join the project. Both Robert and I are volunteers who receive no financial compensation from you or from the companies we get our DNA test kits from. This is not our business and we make no money from it. In fact, we have spent our own money (and time) to set it up and to keep it running. Feel free to contact us through the new website with any questions, or concerns, you may have. We'll be happy to answer them fully, to the best of our ability. Thank you- Warmest regards, Patrick J. Visser-Sutherland Clan Sutherland Society of N.
