Hi there If you have dates of birth, marriage, etc, you could try the Births, Marriages, Death pages of the Glasgow Herald at http://news.google.com/newspapers This site has the Glasgow Herald online from 17 Jan 1806 to 17 Feb 1990. The search engine isn't that good, so you will need to check the individual papers if the search doesn't turn up anything. I am a descendent of Margaret Lundy's brother Robert. Their parents were Thomas Lundy (1816 - 1905) and Sarah Patterson (1816 - 1888). They were a coal mining family and are listed in the 1861 census in Wales (minus Margaret who was then living with her new husband). The family then emigrated again to Australia. I have a lot of information on the Australian end but not much on the UK end. Hope this is helpful. Kind regards Kate Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. At a guess, I suspect the name is Florance (a variant on Florence). Try a search on scotlandspeople or familysearch for the birth. Gordon. **It is simpler than that: in Scotland, it has ALWAYS been the case that you could marry anywhere, and for a long time you didn't even need to be married by a licensed person for it to be legal. You could have a legal marriage by just declaring in front of witnesses that you were now married. That option became invalid a few years back. Gordon.
