Author: Alicia0407 Surnames: Neave, Scott Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.general/22420/mb.ashx Message Board Post: James and Margaret (nee Scott) Neave had 2 daughters, Jessie (b. 1902) and Harriet (b. 1907). I believe that when they fell on hard times that they had to send the youger daughter, Harriet, away to live with another relative. I am aware of some of Harriets whereabouts and can only find limited records on what happened to Jessie (or Jesse) so any more information on this family would be really appreciated. Also- if you have any info about the parents/grandparents of James Neave and Margaret Scott, That would be fantastic. Thanks so much in advance! On the 1900 census, Jane McClain was a widow who immigrated from Scotland abt. 1833 (age 4). She had 14 children and only one was living in 1900. That was Isabella. Allan died 8/10/1899 and Jane died 11/8/1905. Some of my Scottish ancestors immigrated to Pennsylvania by way of Cananda. I have been unable to find a ship for Allan or Janet anywhere and do not know where in Scotland either of them came from. I also do not know when Allan immigrated, but it was after April 1817 and before 1843. Based on Janet's younger age, I know they were married somewhere in America. I am not sure of Janet's maiden name but have been told it might be McKelvey. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [SCOTLAND] MANNERS
    2. Tony Vigars
    3. My Father-in-Law Frank MANNERS family originated in County Durham but he was effectively doing a one-name study of Manners and had gathered a lot of information of all named Manners in Great Britain which I have inherited from him. I have a lot of copies of Wills and other original documents concerning families of MANNERS living in Scotland. I have been unable to establish a link between the Manners of Scotland and Co. Durham and wish to clear out unrelated matter and find a bit more space at home! I am loathe to throw out such precious information which has taken much time and money to gather together. Is there anyone out there studying MANNERS in Scotland who would value it? Tony Vigars
