    2. Leslie
    3. Hi Pete, It is, of course, possible, but it would be difficult to find out. The online marriage index for Scotland only goes up to 1929; anything more recent than that is only available to view on site at New Register House. You could hire someone to go in for you, but even at that you're not guaranteed a result. If you could get your hands on the birth records of the children you might find the marriage date and place, which would be a good starting place. That's how it's done in Scotland. Hope this helps, Leslie   "Record Inspector" Affordable GROS lookups and transcriptions: <http://www.kodiak-web-design.com/recordinspector/>     On 31/05/2004 08:02:26, scotland-l@rootsweb.com wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Tyson, Filkins. > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EgC.2ACE/9927 > > Message Board Post: > > Albert Tyson married a Miss Filkins and had three children starting in > 1946 in Carlisle. On her Birth Certificate it describes the address as Mrs McCallums house. The parents of Susan were Francis (Frank) Docherty and Mary Docherty (nee Leckie). The surname seems to be recorded sometimes Docherty or sometimes Doherty. It seems to be a fairly common name in Greenock but might be of interest.

Surnames: LANGWELL, LINGREL, LANGREL, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EgC.2ACE/1811.1.1 Message Board Post: I'am researching the surname LINGREL which many believe is derived from the name LANGWELL. My grtx4 grdfather was Major Magee LINGREL, known to have been in Dorchester co. Md. in 1800 along with other Lingrel/Langrell/Langwell etc. He was next in Ross co. Ohio in 1805. Not much is known of his parentage, who other brothers/sisters were, where he came from and when. There seem to be alot of coincidences between the LINGREL/LANGWELL lines. I've also noticed a city called" Longuiuel" just south of Montreal, Canada. There have been many Langrel/Langwell etc. families from there. Looking at a map it's easy to see that they probably traveled up the Hudson River, through Lake Champlain right to Longuiuel(same as St. Hubert) Would you mind sharing any info with me that you think may apply?

There are a set of fiches for each county. They are indexed in order of surname, and also state forename, age, registration district, and reference. The library also holds the census returns 1841-1901, but only covers the West of Scotland counties. I did not find the family I was looking for, but came home to find a message giving their census entry - in Northumberland, England.

He would be single, born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and approximately 23 years old. He may still be living at home (he was unmarried in 1851). His father was William WADDELL. I don't konw what the mother's name was. Robert would most likely be in Calton or another parish in the Glasgow area (High Church, Barony, etc.). Thanks, Lisa
