I have sighted the following book, which may be of interest. Pioneers of a Profession, by Jas. C. Stewart, C.A. Published 1977. This book contains biographical notes on the members of the Scottish Chartered Societies (Accountants) 1854 to 1879. The book includes 346 names covering this period, of which 180 were members of the Edinburgh society, 144 members of the Glasgow Institute and 22 members of the Aberdeen Society. The biographical notes range from a small section, to up to a page of notes for each individual. There are photos of some of these members. For any who want to look at this book, you may be able to obtain this through your local library. I sighted this in the CPA library in Sydney. This is available in the National Library of Scotland. http://www.nls.uk/ Regards David Beddie, Sydney, Australia
