1901 online census shows that David & Mary Jane moved to Manitoba sometime between 4 Mar 1888 when Ethel May was born in Ontario, and 15 April 1889 when son Andrew was born in Manitoba. You'll find them in MacDonald District, subdistrict Norfolk North h-4 page 11. Two households away is what looks to be son John H with his wife Ellen. It would be easier to help you with your questions if you knew WHERE in Ontario these people were. "Robertson" is extremely common surname. They should be on the 1881 census - closest I could find is listed under ROBINSON and living in Peel, Wellington Centre, Ontario David, 29 Mary J, 26 Charles, 4 John, 2 David, born July 1880 In the 1871 online Head of Household index, there is a Charles ROBERTSON, age 45, a farmer born in Scotland living in Peel, Wellington North. In 1881, there is a widowed Aggnes ROBINSON aged 46, born in Scotland, famer, living in Peel, Wellington Centre with: James, 27 John, 21 Andrew, 19 Charles, 15 Margret, 13 (all born in Ontario) There were also several BROOKS families in Peel, one of whom may have belonged to Mary Jane. In 1901, a widowed Agnes ROBERTSON, age 68, born Scotland is living with her married daughter Margaret GRANT, 33, and family. These ages match fairly well with the 1881 census above, and *might* be the same people, living in St Thomas, Elgin East e-14 page 5 I think you'll find that these are the same people because the Ontario Vital Statistics project shows that in Peel Township,16 Feb 1893, Maggie ROBERTSON, the 25 year old daughter of Charles ROBERTSON and Agnes ANDERSON married George GRANT. #12867-93 (Wellington Co). See http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~maryc/welg93.htm Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid shows that Glen Allan Union Cemetery in Peel Township, Wellington County has both an Agnes and a Charles ROBERTSON. You should look at scotlands people to find the marriage of Charles & Agnes and go back from there. I am looking for who I believe is named Alexander Middleton, my ggg-grandfather. He was married to Jane Brady, my ggg-grandmother (Jane was born about 1820 in Scotland.) They had 4 children who were all born in New York. Jane Middleton (1847 - 1895) James A. Middleton b:1843 - d: ????) William W. Middleton (b:1847 - d:????) Margaret Middleton (b:1948 - d:????) Jane Brady-Middleton and her children were living in Davies County, Missouri when they appeared in the 1850 census. There is no mention of her husband. Jane Middleton, my gg-grandmother, (1847 - 1895) moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she married in 1866 and gave birth to all her children. I can not seem to to find any information of the rest of Jane Middleton's family. I do not know what happened to her parents or her siblings. Any help of suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
