    1. Fowlage - what is it?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ruickbie, Tait, Robb, Minto, Kerr, Dagliesh Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EgC.2ACE/10068 Message Board Post: Hi, Thanks for taking a peek at my query. An ancestor’s birth register from Peebles, Peebles states: “Peebles 3th August 1783 Willm Rubie son to Willm Rubie servt to Andw Robb tenant in the Fowlage and Isobel Tait his spouse was baptized by the Rev Willm Dagliesh Minst of the Gofpel in Peebles witnefses John Minto weaver and Alexr Kerr taylor there – the child born on the 2d July 1783” I know that the “Rubie” should be Ruickbie. My question is this – what is “the Fowlage”. I have studied the 1821 map of Peebles drawn by John Tompson, and available at the NLS website and can see an area tagged as “Feulage” north of Peebles just beyond Winkstone. Are these the same? And what is it? Or if not the same – still what is “the Fowlage”? Who was Andrew Robb? Plus while I’m here I’d love to hear any info anyone has on anything to do with the William Rubie(s) (RUICKBIE sic) or Isobel Tait mentioned above. I strive to identify the parents of the elder William – the missing link I need. Thanks again for your interest, LarryR, in Canada

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EgC.2ACE/8422.2.1.2.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for answering my questions. I poke around at anythig and everything that looks promising, but I think these are the wrong Grants. I can't confirm the only Grant that I know about. The only things I do know is that he had a daughter named Amelia and he spent some time in London. His son-in-law, Charles Davies was born in the late 1700's, so I think that your Alexander was born too early. Alexander seems to be a very popular name. The only other thing I know is that he was a Sir.

I don't know if any are related. As my own Peter Grant c1769 who was a weaver may not have come from Irvine. Perhaps the Ludovic who went to the States was the brother of the John Grant who married Kathrin Dick? The OPR's Irvine don't start until late 1680's.

Carolina/Mississippi/Louisiana Classification: Bible Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EgC.2ACE/10064 Message Board Post: Reily Family I am trying to track down and verify information I have on my G-G-G-G-G Grand Father. The little information I have, if true, leaves a lot of unanswered questions. This is what I have: Robert (O'Reilly) Reily- Born: in County Cavan, Ireland. Came to America in 1764. Wife: Ann. Received 100 acres land- Bounty given by Act of Gen. Assembly passed 25 July, 1761, in Craven Co., S.C.. Leased land in 1764 to Matthew Neilson in St. Mark's Parish, Craven Co., South Carolina. Died 23 Nov. 1782, Camden District, South Carolina. Father of Samuel Reily (04 Mar. 1767 - 12 May 1822). Looking for any information in Ireland. Family. Name may have been spelled different. But a direct connection. Relatives that may have come to USA using a different name: Parents, brothers, sisters (maybe married), Uncles, etc. O'Reilly- O'Reily- Reilly- Rileigh- etc. Did he come to this country from Ireland or somewhere else? When did he come to USA? Did he land in South Carolina or somewhere else. What was Ann's maiden name? Where was she from? Where did they marry? Did they have more than one child? Location of last residence and is his grave site known? Then there is Samuel--- I have several accounts on him. There does not seem to be much information on the first two generations, of Reilys, in the USA, and no contacts or connection to where they came from. I run in to a dead end everywhere I look. Do you know of any web sites, books or contacts? If you can help please contact me. Thanks, Wain Reily Columbus, Mississippi
