You would need to know which part of Scotland your MacLeans came from and dates of birth marriage etc. I think that nearly every family had a George and/or Mary somewhere along the line. The best thing for you to do is start with your Grandparents and work backwards, hope you can find some detail to get you going, Regards. Fred

You can search and download any BMD's from 1855 at www.scotlandspeople.gov..uk credit/debit charge apply. Since you now where the children were born and their approx. years of birth it should be fairly easy to get a hit first time, from one of the birth certs. you will find out where and when their parents married, and if they married in Scotland, (note, that births from 1856 to 1860 do not give details of parent's marriage) would be an easy search for their marriage certificate, which in turn will give you the names of both sets of parents. Good luck in your search. Beth

Someone else has posted a potential 1881 entry for them which could tie in places of residence with the dates of the birth of the children. That's a useful angle which I have used in the past.
