I should have recognised the name, as I have some of her poems. Harriett does not seem to be so well known, but I will try the I G I. There is quite good info on the site Annie mentioned, http://digital.library.upenn.edu/women/hemens/biography.html so I now know where the sister's were born. My thanks to Gordon and Mary.

I hired an Irish researcher to help several years ago and she worked on this for some months before becoming ill and later passing away. She was able to get me back to Scotland but not able to "connect the dots" from my ancestor to the right family in Ireland or on back to the right brother, although process of elimination convinced her my Scottish ancestor was this James. I hope to eventually find enough information to complete this circle. Thanks for your suggestion - it's so nice to continue to find that genealogy researchers are so willing to help fellow researchers!

I live Newtownards Co. Down, and it was bought locally. It includes the first line, words and music, of "The Captive Knight". Harriett wrote the music and Mrs. Hermans the words. It also states Harriett died 1858 (or it might be 1853), and Mrs. Hermans died 1835. I have tried for some time to trace Harriett's relatives, but don't know where she was born. By chance I tracked down some of her sheet music, at a University, Chapel Hill, Carolina. Harriett and Mrs. Hermans were sisters, and the song was dedicated to Sir Walter Scott. This made me wonder were the sisters Scottish, although the music seemed to be printed in America, by various publishers. Has anyone heard of the sisters? The artist seems to be M. S. Selt. A monogram on the back look like F A C, or T C, and the date 1928 is also on the back.

Miss Lawson´s great grandfather James Brydon of Ettrickbridge (later of Lauder and Galashiels) born 1811 married Christina Scott of Lauder who had at least one son, William Scott Brydon born 1845 who married Margaret T Renwick. As a matter of general interest I am intrigued by the possible Scott Brydon link which I hasten to add has no connection with my Brydon line. That said, I am interested in learning more about the Families of Brydons mentioned in Miss Lawson´s document. Cheers,

Hi, I am looking to track down an Albert Maurice Wall. I have looked through all the records for England and Wales, but have not found him. The only information I have on him was that he was 33 in September 1946 and that his father was John James Wall. I am, therefore, presuming that he might be either Scottish, or Irish. I would be very grateful if anybody could let me know how I go about looking up the records for his birth (approx - 1912/1913) in Scotland and Ireland. Many thanks, in advance Sarah Wall _________________________________________________________________ It's fast, it's easy and it's free. Get MSN Messenger today! http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger
