Brazil. She was married to JOSEPH CAMPBELL of Scotland in 1902. I do not know tha actual marriage date. They had two daughters that I know of ISABELLA CAMPBELL born in Greenock Scotland Nov. 18, 1878, and entered the Fransican Convent in Glasgow around 1902, (Maria and Joseph are list as her parents on a write up that I got from the convent), and JESSIE MCLEAN NOBLE CAMPBELL b: Feb. 24, 1889 in Perth Scotland. Jessie married James Sinclair April 18, 1909 in Tillicoultry Scotland. Maria's name is listed on Jessie's marriage certificate (her mother) as Lina Hewitt. I can only assume that Maria remarried to JOHN HEWITT as he is listed as Jessies father, but Maria is called Lina on the marriage certificate.. Maria could have gone by different names LINA, LENA, FRANCELINA. If anyone knows these names please contact me. Thank you in advance. Donna British Columbia

It is titled CERTIFICATE OF ENTRY OF BIRTH and it does not look like anything that you would get from scotlandspeople. It is more in the form of a letter and gives particulars of his birth. It is dated the same day as the birth was registered in the Register -Book of Births. It is almost like a receipt or it is actually what the registrar would have given to the person registering the birth as your copy of the birth certificate. Just wondering if anyone would know what this is as I have all the original bmd certs for my grandparents and most of my ggrandparents, but this one is different. Thanks

    1. Is there an 1871 census for Scotland? BARBOUR family
    2. Michaela Morgan
    3. Hi All, I am fairly new to research in Scotland and have the following from the 1881 census: Dwelling: Broad Street Census Place: Alloa, Clackmannan, Scotland Source: FHL Film 0203534 GRO Ref Volume 465 EnumDist 8 Page 5 Marr Age Sex Birthplace John BARBOUR M 39 M Whitelaw, Haddington, Scotland Rel: Head Occ: Railway Agent Ann BARBOUR M 41 F England Rel: Wife William BARBOUR 14 M Portobello, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Son Occ: Telegraph Messenger Thomas Fuwick BARBOUR 13 M Portobello, Edinburgh, Scotland (note the second name should be Fenwick) Rel: Son Occ: Telegraph Messenger Annie BARBOUR 10 F Kinross, Scotland Rel: Dau Occ: Scholar John BARBOUR 8 M Kinross, Scotland Rel: Son Occ: Scholar Mary BARBOUR 6 F Devon, Clackmannan, Scotland Rel: Dau Occ: Scholar Alice Muncie BARBOUR 2 F Alloa, Clackmannan, Scotland (note the second name should be Minnie) Rel: Dau My question is whether there are any earlier census records, especially 1871 that might help me to find out where Ann came from in England. Her maiden name is FENWICK and according to her 1866 marriage certificate in Edinburgh her parents names were Thomas FENWICK and Ann KEPPLE and they were both deceased. Her age of 25 suggests that she was born around 1841 and that she was the widow of David THOMPSON. I do not know whether the previous marriage, her first husband's or her parents deaths were in Scotland or England. I have tried to apply for a GRO certificate providing all the Ann FENWICK details for 1840 and 1841 without success: 1. 1841 March 25 257 Castle Ward: Her father's name is not specified & her mother is not Ann, formerly Kepple/Keppel. 2. 1841 June 24 129 Gateshead: Her parents are not Thomas & Ann, formerly Kepple/Keppel. 3. 1841 June 25 301 Morpeth: Her mother is not Ann, formerly Kepple/Keppel. 4. 1841 September 19 247 Stockport: Her parents are not Thomas & Ann, formerly Kepple/Keppel. 5. 1841 September 24 257 Sunderland: As above. 6. 1841 December 14 471 South: Her father's name is not Thomas & her mother's maiden name is not Kepple/Keppel. 7. 1841 December 25 443 Tynemouth: As above. 8. 1840 June 24 38 Chester le Street: Her parents are not Thomas & Ann, formerly Kepple/Keppel. I will try other years next but was hoping for something else to narrow down the options. John and Ann and their family moved to South Africa in around 1882. I am also trying to find out about John BARBOUR's parents - William and Ann (nee PURVES) who were both still alive in 1866 and William was described as a farm servant. I have the following entry from the 1881 census which could be them but I need more information to try and confirm if this family is a match: Dwelling: 9 Claremont Pl Census Place: Edinburgh St Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Scotland Source: FHL Film 0223991 GRO Ref Volume 685-1 EnumDist 60 Page 15 Marr Age Sex Birthplace William BARBOUR M 63 M Haddington, Scotland Rel: Head Occ: Surfaceman Ann BARBOUR M 63 F Haddington, Scotland Rel: Wife William BARBOUR U 24 M Haddington, Scotland Rel: Son Occ: Joiner Marg. BARBOUR 21 F Haddington, Scotland Rel: Daur Occ: Shopwoman Jemima H. BARBOUR 7 F Haddington, Scotland Rel: G Daur Occ: Scholar Any suggestions on tracking Ann FENWICK or John BARBOURs parents, or information on 1871 census records would be much appreciated Thanks Michaela Morgan Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

In the Aberdeen St Clement's cemetry records, published by ANESFHS . Record 388- The family buriel ground of Whinton Routledge manufacturer in Aberdeen & Isaac Routledge. William Routledge d. 14th Dec 1872 whose remains are interred in the Spital (sic)Cemetry. Has three of his children who died in childhood buried here. I have reason to believe that my gg grandfather was employed by the Routledge family and the business was Rope manufacturer. I also have found a note in my ggrandfather's records -William Jamieson Routledge died August 21st 1897 aged 56 years. Money left- £25286-1-11d duty has been paid £987-18-9d. My ggrandfather was James Brown Jamieson. I cannot find a connection to the above, or the connection to our family, or why William's middle name was Jamieson. If you know answers to any of this---
