Thomas’ parents as shown above were Henry Fisher and Catherine Wilson who married Nov. 5, 1878. Note this date and the childrens ages which indicate previous marriages by both parents - in fact a few are shown as "step".... Henry Fisher was son to Clark Fisher and Elizabeth Michel. Catherine Wilson was daughter to Thomas Wilson and Agnes Lambert (or Lamberk?). Clark Fisher was son to Nathaniel Fisher and Margaret McNeil. Clark died Dec 15, 1869 in Ayr with his widow Elizabeth witnessing the death. I’m sure the children will enjoy the book……………….. :>) L

    3. You may want to post this on the BIGGS message board http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.biggs I have not come across any BIGGS in Scotland but some did move around. My mother's maiden name was BIGGS and have dione a little looking up, but not much as yet. In Gloucestershire and Hampshire it was quite common. My Grandfather and his father before him were Railway Train drivers. Many of my BIGGS family were linked to the railways and as such travelled around the country. I have few BIGGS's in my tree and none are called Robert, sorry. But my earliest link is around 1820. Best of luck with your research. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EgC.2ACE/10199 Message Board Post: I wrote to the British Isles and Ireland Board concerning this name; but I never received a response. So I thought I would try this board. I have an ancestor named Robert Biggs. I know nothing before he appeared in 1776 in Westmoreland Co, PA. He married a Miller who was born in Scotland, supposedly. He is written up in Clark Co, IN in their local history books as being of Scotch-Irish descent. He was born ca 1753 as per the records. My question is this: is Biggs a Scottish name? Could he have come originally from Scotland? If so, what might be the best way to attempt to find his parents and grandparents and siblings? Thanks so much for any suggestions that might be sent my way. I am truly stumped as to where to go. 1. Living descendants GLASGOW and HARRIS of Edinburgh
    2. Michaela Morgan
    3. Hi All, Can anyone help me with tracing living relatives? I have found that William BARBOUR and Ann PURVES had (amongst others) a daughter Ann Scott BARBOUR born in Haddington (East Lothian) in 1843. In 1873 Ann Scot had an illegitimate daughter Jemima Hutchinson BARBOUR also born in Haddington who married James GLASGOW in St, George, Edinburgh in 1895. Jemima and James had at least two children: James (b. 1898 in Edinburgh) Annie Marion (b. 1899 in Edinburgh). Annie Marion GLASGOW married James HARRIS in 1927 in Abbey Hill, Edinburgh and he was the witness on Jemima GLASGOW, nee BARBOUR's death certificate in 1944 at Canongate, Edinburgh. She died at 198 Easter Road, Edinburgh and had been a Baker's shop woman at the time of her mother's death in 1894, her mother Ann Scott BARBOUR was a green grocer and Lodging House Keeper. In 1944 James HARRIS lived at 5 Sterhouse Gardens, Edinburgh; while in 1927 when he married he had been at 100 Pleasance, Edinburgh. This information has been pieced together only from BDM and census entries and I would like some suggestions about how I might find out more about the family. Thanks for any suggestions Michaela Morgan Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

They had gotten into trouble with the crown and thus had been sent to the colonies. Could this have been the brother of your William? Would like to make that connection.
