See www.nas.gov.uk In Scotland Fatal Accident Inquiries have been held since 1895 into fatal accidents in the workplace and cases of sudden death where public interest was involved, but not into deaths by suicide. Not all records of sheriff court fatal accident inquiries have survived. The records of each inquiry are gradually being individually listed as part of a recataloguing programme. Author: kenneth_1513 Surnames: Stewart Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.general/21537/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The specific year is 1764 in Warren, Georgia, USA. I cannot tell for sure where Andrew Stewart was born, however, the Andrew Stewart who was born in Scotland does not have a date or place of death, while our Andrew Stewart in "Georgia" does not have a date or place of birth. Putting the two together makes since for now. Many Stewart GED files Start with "Andrew Stewart born in 1764 Warren, Ga". The problem with that is the 1764 date references the date mentioned by David Dobson's book "Scots in Georgia and the Deep South, 1735-1845 and not his date of birth. The quote from that book says "Stewart, Andrew, to leave Georgia in January 1764. (Ga.Gaz.#42)" The Georgia Gazette #42 (Ga.Gaz.#42) says: "As Mr. Andrew Stewart intends to leave this province, he desires any person to whom he is indebted to come immediately and receive payment, and any person indebted to him to settle the same." If Andrew was born in 1760 or 1764 how could he collect for or pay debts in 1764? He would be no older that 4 years old. His father, another Andrew Stewart could deal with debts. You must see by the paragraphs above that Andrew has to have been born before 1764. I believe at this point that there were two Andrew Stewarts (father and son)in Georgia. Ergo, Andrew Stewart born 23 Aug 1719 (father) and Andrew Stewart born 9 Jun 1760, both Renfrewshire, Scotland have been added to my GED file.. My investigation continues. Any help would be appreciated Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hello Some of my Tweedie family migrated from Peeblesshire in 1848 to around the Walton, Delaware areas of USA. There was a large family of them. Alexander Tweedie and his wife Mary Bruce. Both were born either 1921 or 1922. They had 4 children, 2 now live in England and we think the other two may still live in Scotland. The youngest two would have been born sometime in 1949/50 and in September/October 1951 in Armadale, West Lothian, Scotland. ELIZABETH WALKER had a sister (name unknown) and their parents were MARY ANN WALKER (nee WALLS) d. 1939 and JOHN WALKER. They also lived in Armadale, West Lothian, Scotland. MARY ANN WALKER's parents were SOLOMON WALLS and MARGARET WALLS (maiden surname unknown). JAMES HENRY COLES was the son of EDWIN COLE and GWENLLIAN COLE (nee MORDEN) d. 1926 who lived in the district of Bedwellty, Wales. EDWIN COLE later married ELIZABETH ADLAM in 1927. EDWIN had a brother, WALTER COLE who had a son, Lyndon COLE(s) Please contact me if any of these names or dates sound familiar. Charles was married to Didame (there are about hundred other spellings for her first name, but this version is the most common) Rier (also spelled Ryer, Rice, Beaur, Bier, Beam, Bear, Bean, etc.) whose parents were Susanna and Johan (originally from Germany, they came to Ontario in 1840s-1850s). Hi I am new to this list and to Scottish records. Trying to track down this marriage (somewhere in Scotland!) . . . they did have a son Williams James McKay born in approximately 1855 . . although there is an indication he may have been born in England not Scotland . . trying to find out anything on this couple. I gather the above information was taken from a death certificate. Any information would be very much appreciated. -- Regards, Mandy @ Home
