Hi Lori I thought you were looking for a Margaret?? I have double checked 1851 and 1861 Census. None of the **original** Census forms are available on www.ancestry.co.uk for these years....not sure why. It just says NOT AVAILABLE to view. As far as I can see...... In 1851 Census it states that James MC ALPIN was born in Ireland as was his wife Magdalane. However, in the 1861 Census it states that Mary (?Magdalane) was born in Stoneykirk Wigtownshire?? All children were born in Wigtownshire Info on the Elizabeths of Wigtownshire is as follows: 1851 Census 1) Elizabeth McAlpin b 1830 (aged 21) born Stranraer Wigtownshire Occ: Servant in Lanarkshire Queen's Hotel, 70 George Square Housemaid Owner appears to be Sir Brt Y.D.H.Elphenston 1861 Census 2) Elizabeth McAlpin b. 1795 Ireland Living at Portpatrick Wigtownshire 3) Her daughter Elizabeth McAlpin b. 1841 Kirkcolm Wigtownshire 4) Elizabeth McAlpin b.1840 Leswalt Wigtownshire (Neice) Staying with her sister Sarah and the home of Sarah Stewart Hope that helps Sandra Auckland New Zealand ----- Original Message ----- From: LORI ADKINS To: SOMERS ; [email protected] Sent: Saturday, August 16, 2008 2:36 AM Subject: Re: [SCOTLAND] Census lookup for McAlpine please Hello Sandra, Thanks so much for doing this look up.
