It'll be a while before I'm in town again. However the Fasti is online here but you may need a more up to date version. http://www.archive.org/ Click on the titles and look for one where the identifier is "fastiecclesiu04scotuoft" as it covers Perthshire parishes. Download the pdf version and you can search through it. If you have no luck there, maybe you could try Perthshire directories. 1. [SCOTLAND] John McKenzie from Scotland to New York circa 1750
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: glover1169 Surnames: McKenzie Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.general/21573/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to trace McKenzie ancestry from recent information received from a descendant of John McKenzie. John settled in Kinderhook, New York and was married to a Mary Taylor (born 1745- daughter of John and Christina Taylor). Their children were Nancy (born 1772), Alexander (born 1774) Daniel (born 1778) and Jane (born 1781). All the children were born at Kinderhook. The original researcher of this information had a note in her documents that spoke of a John McKenzie - son of Alexander baptised 19 May 1721 in Tain, Ross Shire but her research did not show a tie to this ancestry - just a note that this would be a point for further research. During the Revolutionary War, this McKenzie family were Loyalists for the British side. The children left New York in the late 1780s and settled in the Hastings County area of Ontario (called Upper Canada in the 18th Century). I am hoping to seek connection for this John McKenzie back to Scotland Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [SCOTLAND] McLEOD
    2. Anne Picketts
    3. Can any lister help with the following please? Angus McLEOD b. Stoer, Sutherland Scotland mrd 9 Jul 1844 Catherine McLEOD b. Badnabbon, Scotland about 1828 Daughter Jane born 15 Jun 1845, Assynt, Sutherland mrd George Frederick BRAGGINS b. Oxford 2 Mar 1845 in Newton, Auckland 8 Nov 1864. Angus had died by 1864 when their daughter Jane mrd. Her mother Catherine had married a George CRAIG in 1863 in Newton, Auckland, NZ. She was 35, a milliner and had been living in Newton for 3 years. George was a widow aged 47 and a fireman on the paddle steamer *Tasmanian Maid*. George BRAGGINS and Jane McLEOD returned to England after the birth of their first two (of 14) children. There is some thought that either Angus or Catherine had connections to the Rev Norman McLEOD who settled first in Nova Scotia 1817 and then in Waipu, NZ in 1854. In a letter written by Samuel Walter BRAGGINS (son of George and Jane) in 1952, Samuel states "My mother [Jane McLEOD] was age 3 years when her uncle met her and my grandmother on the quay". There is no mention of which quay or where. Is it possible that Catherine was connected to the Rev Norman McLEOD and travelled to NZ with daughter Jane after the death of Angus? If anyone has any knowledge of George CRAIG, Angus or Catherine and Jane McLEOD, I would love to hear from you. Thanks.
