Several years ago (2000), the Ulster Historical Society published in their subscribers' interest list # 23 (Directory of Irish Family History Research) tenant records compiled by Ian Montgomery entitled "Tenants on the Estates of the Earls of Antrim in the Seventeenth Century." These are exceptional records for research for Co. Antrim during the 1600s. The list is presented in alphabetical order, so I can do look ups within a reasonable time frame. Also be aware that the vast majority of these tenants are among the more educated and well established folks, i.e., lawyers, gentlemen, yeoman, clerks, ministers, etc. Also, please be aware that these surviving leases do not provide a complete record of those who held land from the Earls of Antrim.
