    3. Hi Laurie, Just a reminder for others that I was told several years ago that the CORKILL / CORKHILL names on the Isle of Man are variations on the McCORKELL (many spellings) surname. My Evan CORKILL's family seem to have arrived on the Isle of Man around 1700. He was born there in 1827. Another FYI to others is that 5 out of 7 children of Evan and Elizabeth (QUAYLE) CORKILL were "sent to Canada" as "British Home Children." Evan lost his wife around 1871 and he has a Master Mariner, so the younger children went to live with an uncle, but he had too many children of his own to feed. Betty (near Lowell, MA) For more information on the BHC, please visit this web site and then check out all the "internet links." http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~britishhomechildren/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Laurie Thompson" <lt030329@bigpond.net.au> To: <Scotch-Irish-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2006 6:54 PM Subject: My Ayrshire and Ancestors > AULD ( Aull) My William Auld was married in Tullyvallin Newtownhamilton c > 1825 to Margaret Unknown who died and he Married Sarah Jane Wilson of > Mullaghbane ,near Glaslough , c1837 .Sarah and half the children came to > Melbourne Australia and george --Margaret and Eliza remained , I assume > with the father , who could have died 1888 in Ballminetragh with Eliza . > I know the first record of Aulds is the proving of the will of Reverend > James Auld 1683 from Killinchy Co.
