"Willie" McCorkle, born circa 1851, NC (2) Charlie McCorkle, born circa 1853, NC (3) Mary McCorkle, born circa 1854, NC (4) Elizabeth May McCorkle, born circa 1855, NC (5) Sarah "Sally" Lanier McCorkle, born circa 1857, NC (6) Lizzie McCorkle, born Aug 1861, NC, married c1887 Richar Eames, died 2 Feb 1942, Cabarrus Co., NC; three children: Richard, Phillip, & Kathleen (7) Clement M. McCorkle, born circa 1864, NC (8) Rosa B. Hi Ruth, I think I just posted a response on this List a few days ago about my CORKILL ancestors from the Isle of Man (in Great Britain). During my research, I found out that the CORKILL's living on the Isle of Man in 1700's were probably descended from McCORKELL families in other parts of Great Britain. (Many spellings of the original surname.) Some libraries have copies of "From Viking Glory: the McCorkle Family" by Louis W. McCorkle. There are many families from Va, NC, SC documented, most springing from emigrants to Pa from Ulster in the early 1700's. There was also a web-site produced by Dave Wilks (sp?) regarding many of the above McCorkle families. I lost all my bookmarks in a recent computer failure, and haven't time to search right now.
