McCaw researchers I need to tell you that I have traced my McCaw lineage coming from Isle of Bute, where the McCaws owned both south and north parts of the whole Island. They came to NI 1560 with 'The Stewarts of Ballintoy' along with a lot of other surnames. Also, there is a book 'Dalraida' which I've copied to my disc which talks about our McCaw surname. The name consists of many variants starting with Makawe, M'caw, Macaw, Maccaw, and on and on. Some records indicate it went to McKay but none that I have found for my lineage. I've got a whole disc of research I've gathered over the years which includes some of the following copies of documents: 1630 Muster Roll 1641 Muster Roll 1669 Tax Roll 1734 Census 1740 Protestant N Antrim census 1750 Registry of Deeds 1766 Religious census 1775 Wm John McCaw family history 1796 Flax Growers Bounty List 1797 McCaw Registered legal documents 1803 Census done by Dr Traill 1824 Tithe Applotment books of Ballintoy 1830 - 1839 OSM infomation 1861 Griffith's Valuation 1912 Ulster Covenant McCaw signature If you send me your snail mail address I can send you a copy of my data disc. Please send this information to me at the email address listed but in the subject line please put 'data disk' so I open it. Roy Wesley McCaw (1913-1973) and his wife Vera Muirhead (1923-)? = I have sent this to a 3rd cousin who could possibly have information on this. Will get back to you as soon as I hear back from her. McCaws/McCaa in Richmond Virginia. Any connection? = my McCaws came to Ontario but I have seen the name in Virginia. McCaw's of Bruce County, ON who were formerly in Fullerton TP, ON. My direct line stems from Daniel McCaw and Isabel McCurdy who were married, likely in Bushmills or Ballintoy before emigrating in 1849. = my McCaws came to Canada in 1839 Do I have your permission to link you up with a McCurdy who could probably help you? It is my lineage but Jim would have a lot more McCurdy information. Susan
