Further on this same topic...in South Jersey I have run into some DENNYs and CLARKs that seem to puzzle their descendants because it had been assumed (and still is by many) that both were Scotch-Irish but when you look at who they married and the churches they belonged to you find they ALWAYS married Swedes and almost always belonged to Lutheran and Moravian Churches frequented by the Swedes and Germans. Many of the Jersey COOKs were Early Swedes who descend from a COCK (the ship's cook...when the immigrants adopted an "alias" because they didn't have an actual surname they often used their occupation for their surname).
