Hi folks, Here is a webpage that gives an overview of the Scottish service of heirs and Sassine abstracts that are microfilmed and in the FHL. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bifhsusa/ressco.html#landrecord s Check today's FHL catalog as there may be more. This site spills the beans on The Big Secret: most of the Service of Heirs are in Latin! Finally a use for the high school Latin. Those seeking to find the Scottish origin of better off ancestors (forget the landless peasant) would do well to study Scottish land inheritance and to block off some time to check them out. This can be done in Salt Lake or even (slowly) in your local FHL. Then spend your Scottish vacation visiting the home of your ancestors, not trying to find it in the national archives. Regards again, Linda Merle
