Evelyn, Go to http://smgf.org and search their data for the Leslie surname. 1. Click on Search the Database 2. Next page - Click on Search the Y-Chromosome Database 3. Next page - Click on the radio button by Family Tree DNA. Leave the marker data alone. Click on radio button by Sort by Surname and enter Leslie in box. Click on Find Genetic Matches. 4. Next page - DNA results are shown for one Leslie and one Loosle. Click on the tree icon to the left of Leslie's data. The chart that shows is tied to the LDS Ancestral File. Click on the tag AFN: 1QBD-FG and his Leslie line will appear. The donor's Leslie grandfather through 2nd great grandfather are in his pedigree tree. His grandfather was John Thomas Leslie and the family lived in Pickens Co., SC. 5. Return to the page with the DNA results. He has data for all 36 markers, or 39 if you count the way FTDNA counts. Note the markers that are red, return to the page with all the numbers, and start changing the numbers in the boxes for these red markers until they turn green. It's probably easier to do this one marker at a time, going back and forth between this page and the results page. When you are finished and they are all green, you have 39 marker data for at least one Leslie. I didn't find a Leslie in Ysearch. While the LESLIE surname site on Family Tree DNA does show 6 members, there are NO results posted, just the genealogy notes for the 6 members, and it has been that way for quite some time. The site was set up under an agreement by Family Tree with individuals who set up surname sites for numerous surnames that did not have a coordinator. At least I know that if we order our kit through the Clan group, the results will be posted for comparison, but I don't know how long it will be before anything more takes place on the LESLIE site. Thank you so much, Bruce. I will certainly follow those instructions and I appreciate the time it took you to type all that!
