    1. Re: [SCOT-DNA] Clan McAlpin / MacAlpine question
    2. According to "The Clans, Septs & Regiments of the Scottish Highlands" by Frank Adam, the MacAlpin(e) name has only one variant - Alpin. It also states that not only are they now landless; but that the family of their chief has been lost sight of." It is conceivable that Gipin could be a corruption of MacAlpin; but it would be a very long stertch of the imagination to come up with that equation. Cheers, Jim Hi, I am trying to find a McAlpin, McAlpine/ MacAlpine Mac Alpin to compare some Gilpins to. Do you actually have any in your project and if so are they listed with y-search? I have been in contact with the Clan MacAlpine and they suggested that some Gilpins may in actuallity be name changes from MacAlpine..
