Can anyone offer me some advise on researching Oconee County from 1886 onward? This should help resolve what I am trying to do. My grandfather, Roland Erwin Aiken was born in May 1886. I have no information on his parents. Nor of him before the 1900 census when I find him living with Washington E Patterson there in Oconee County. On this census Roland is listed as "adopted son." Though research I have concluded that Roland is decended from the Archibald Aiken clan in Pickens county. I even believe I know which particular Aiken is Roland's father. I am just hoping a court record exists that will solve this question. I'm open to any suggestions. Godspeed.....Patrick
