I am searching for information about Robert R/A. Cook. Born app. 1795. His father was born in N. C. and his mother was born in Ga. According to family legend, his father never came out of the Carolina's. It is believed that his name was either Elisha or Elijah Cook. It is also legend that he [Robert's father] may have changed his name from Cooper to Cook. This Cook family had close ties with the Rooks family. The area of the Carolina's where it is believed that this line of Cooks came from is what is now Oconee County, South Carolina. If anyone has any records showing a connection of Robert R/A Cook, of Carroll County, Ga. to a Elisha or Elijah Cook in the late 1700's or early 1800's it might be just the link I'm looking for. Any help is highly appreciated. Robert Cook married twice. First wife unknown. Children by first wife are: Elijah, George W., Susannah, Martha, James, Amanda and Annie. Robert's second wife was Anna Holder. Thomas R. Cook was the only child of Robert and Anna. Thanks for any help. Johnny Cook jcook@mail.tds.net
