Howdy! There are some questions that I'm sure many of you can help me with. :) As I'm sure you are all aware, I'm the new county coordinator for Newberry Co, http://www.rootsweb.com/~scnewber/ . Thank you to all who have sent me mail with your wonderful comments! Now to the questions and things that are needed for the website! 1. Who all would like to assist in keeping the pages up? The areas where we could use some help are: * Churches - we need a list put together of the churches in the area * Cemeteries - list of the cemeteries * Books about Newberry Co. * Is there a Genealogy Society there? * Addresses and phone numbers that would be important to a researcher. * Newspapers - past and present newspapers in Newberry Co. * Look up volunteers - if you have books, cemeteries that you have transcribed, etc., we can really use your help! We are limiting the lookups to TWO per person, so you will not be flooded with lookups. * Some one who lives in the area or often goes there to research. (I need to ask you some questions to help me out with trying to get the pages up and running) * People who can write about the local history. (and you do not have to be a writer :) Im not and I get by. * Funeral Homes list - past and present * Historical points of interest. * People who can transcribe small projects * People who can help with the census transcription project. (this one is a bit more detailed) * Someone who can take one of the military conflicts and put together a small history and the list of men from Newberry or who lived in Newberry Co at one time who served. (Those are American Revolution, War of 1812, War Between the States, Spanish American War, W.W.I, W.W.II, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War) * If you have a personal web site with family pertaining to Newberry Co, please send me the link along with the families you are researching in caps and alphabetically listed, i.e. ADAM, GRAHAM, SMITH, TURNER, VANDERPOOL and I will put it on the links page :) And last but not least, I know each of you has at least one will, land or probate, marriage, bible, or death record sitting around in your files that you can send to be added in the records. It takes all of us to make this happen, I can not do this all by myself and I really need your help!
