    1. [SCNEWBER] Re: [SC] DAVIS, NATHAN SC>AL>MS
    2. Joye What a generous offer ! I wish I was that close to such historic places. When you feel like it, send me your postal address and I will send you my abstracts (just Davises and Fowlers) of the 1790 census index of SC) There were 11 Davis families there and they all had males 15 years or under in age so any of the 11 could have been Nathan's family. (He would be 4 years old). There were only 3 Fowler families in Newberry Co. and one was "LEVY" who had 2 females in his family, although neither Nancy (1794) or Emily (1800) nor son Elijah (1811) were alive then. I am not a good enough researcher to know what to look for except for the surnames: DAVIS, FOWLER,ODELL or DUCKETT and especially any combination of those names. Levi Fowler died in 1819 and I believe (no documentation) that his wife Martha, his son Elijah his 2 daughters; Emily, and Nancy and his son in law Nathan then left Newberry County and went to the Frontier. All of his children eventuall died in Lauderdale Co., AL If you have a chance to see an 1819 Will book or Deed book if Levi left a will or Martha sold any property to settle Levi's estate, it would be much appreciated Just for the record, the Davises in 1790 in Newberry were; Clement 12200 =(1 male 16+, 2 male 16-, 2 females, 0 free, 0 slaves) Frederik 15300 Harmon 11200 Harmon 11300 John 11600 John 21500 Mary 02301 Reason 21100 Thomas 12103 Wan * 41600 (* I think this might be "Van") William 13300 The Fowlers are: Widow 10200 =(1 male 16+, 0 Males16-, 2 females, 0 free, 0 slaves) Josiah 10330 Levy 10200 I suspect that those families that show lots of children , such as Wan*, are older, larger, families. nuff. Thanks for your offer. L&S, Bob Davis Vancouver, WA >> Bob, In a message dated 3/31/0 10:55:50 AM, JBrand1056 writes: << I'm from Harmon Davis line. Any information is greatly appreciated. Jean >> Jean, I am,,at present, just 'groping' on "HARMON" as I have only recently found a vague possible connection to my Davis line, in NEWBERRY COUNTY SC. I have some notes that evidently came to ancestor.com from a submitter < mchenry@bayou.com> It says "file name 24504" for what ever that is worth. I have the suggestion in my notes that a REASON. who married ELIZABETH WOOD, was the father of a HARMON, who was the father of a CLEMENT. Then, I have a list of 10 " Siblings" (I am 'presuming' that these are CLEMENT's siblings) abt 1742-17561. HARMON DAVIS JR - 2nd HARMON ? 2. MARTHA 3. REASON M - NEWBERRY 4. PHOEBE 5. JOHN _ NEWBERRY ? 6. JANE 1771 7. WILLIAM - NEWBERRY (SAME AS CLEM) 8. SARAH 9. RHODA 10. VAN DAVIS Please understand that these are just notes. (no documentation) I shall go to ancestory.com and see if there is anything there to help me along. I shall also email "McHENRY" and see if I can learn anything there. I will send you more as I find it. ( I am looking for NATHAN DAVIS, born about 1786) If anything 'rings a bell' please let me know. ['scuse me, is your last name "BRAND" ?] L&S, Bob Davis Vancouver, WA
