Oh, Don if you find those will you let us know...I also would like to see those records...my Coates, Coate, Coats family lived on Cannon's Creek and Kings' Creek as well... I'm also posting the exact pages for the Newberry info in the Coats Archive...seems some are having some trouble manuvering it and AOL might be causing some problems, might be their browser... http://www.rootsquest.com/~coatsfar/south.html This is the research page for SC info...the Bush River Church Records are here... and John in reponse to another of your emails as well...I'm only saying that is the Baptist Church Records because in that cemetery listing there is a William Cole listed, if you look in the Baptist Church Records you will see that William Cole and Rachel his wife were members of the Bush River Church...he was a Minister there and his brother, I think John Cole was also a minister and I believe the earliest Minister listed for that church...soooo, William Cole died young 32 or 33, Rachel then marries a Providence Williams also a member of the Bush River Baptist Church...so that's why I think it is the cemetery for the Bush River Baptist Church...however, you could be correct that it is not a complete listing...those records are from the DAR records and I found them on a FHC microfilm.... Another interesting thing about this Cole...we have a William Coats m Rachel Ann Budd, that we cannot find hide nor hair of...but in the SC records the name Cote, Cotes, Coate, Coates and Coats are all used interchangeably...and in some instances the Clerk, Frederick Nance didn't cross his *t* so it comes out Cole....sooooooo and other members of the Coats family belonged to the Bush River Baptist Church i.e. James and Rebekah Coate and then later some of the kids of the Coats in the area... Sooooo, if anyone runs accross any Coate, Coates, Coats info...I'd sure appreciate hearing from you... Also...sorry didn't mean to make this so long...but there are some old deed records the sites are like AAA and BBB...I'm assuming those are records or deeds that were filed in Charleston...and we have about a 10 year period where we can't find records for some of the Coats in Newberry County...we know they were there because we have their land records...but some of those early Coats just seem to have land and then disappear...so if anyone runs across some info on those deed records would love to hear that as well... Just one more thing...really...the SC Council Minutes for about the years of 1762 to 17? are not published or microfilmed...so you will see in those Newberry records some of the Council Minutes for that time period...I had to order them from the SC Archive and they had to search the Council Books to find them...they are the precepts for the land records... Any questions...don't hestitate to ask... Date: Fri, 03 Mar 2000 12:17:28 -0600 On the subject of church records, does anyone know where I can find the church records for the Cannon's Creek & King's Creek ARP Presbyterian Chuches in Newberry Co. If they exist, they should contain records in which I am in dire need.
