    1. [SCNEWBER] Abe Lincoln and the Civil War
    2. Received this today and thought it very interesting to say the least. I knew that Abe Lincoln was put into office by underhanded means but had not perused the reason. Just want to reply to your comments which are out in "e-mail land"..... You believe that the South was a traitor to her real country and misused the Constitution to fit her purpose. I do not know what books you have been reading to give you that idea, but you should really look into reading some primary sources of history written by people who lived then. I could supply you with a list of sources written by Northern people who knew what was really going on at that time. This was a revolution in the sense of the French Revolution. Our Constitutional Republic was overthrown, not by Southerners, but by a faction of true revolutionaries who had gained control in Washington. The North and the South BOTH lost this war. If the truth ever gets out about this war we will really be able to unite as a people to stop our present evil system which is growing ever more tyrannical over the people of this nation---which was set in motion under the corrupt and usurping control of the Lincoln administration. Because the Southern people, and mainly Southern Christians, are actually recovering from all the years of history revisionist lies and finding out the truth about what their ancestors were fighting for, there is the movement all across the Southland today to restore what we all had before 1861...a Constitutional Republic. However, there is a big difference! The Christian Confederate of today wants a restoration of a Constitutional Republic under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. You may not be a Christian so that will sound crazy to you, but that is the way it is. Have you ever read the Confederate Constitution? The Confederates wanted a Constitution "under Almighty God." The US one did not have that phrase included. The Presbyterians in the South urged the Confederate Congress to ADD under the Lord Jesus Christ, but Congress never got to act upon it. This may help you to understand the rising agitation against the South--the "Bible Belt" --then, and now. The War for Southern Independence was, in my opinion, fought more over religion than anything else. If you are at all interested in discussing this aspect, I will be glad to continue with you about it. Slavery was MADE an issue. Just like the agitation and "Confederate flag smokescreen" of today, the trouble -makers try to make something an issue for a specific political agenda. Mr Blair, a friend of Lincoln's said this: " It is absurd to say this is a slaveholder's war. In all the South are only about 250,000 slave holders. These rich men are not too eager for war. It is the Southern people's war. The people want independence and mean to get it if they can." (taken from page 166 FACTS and FALSEHOODS CONCERNING THE WAR ON THE SOUTH by George Edmonds, published 1904) Why did they want independence? There are a number of reasons. In a nutshell, there was real serious strife between North and South before slavery ever became an issue. The New England Confederacy had already wanted to secede earlier. Talk was actually rampant about secession, especially from Northern states, over various issues. The strife between North and South was very real, especially over religious and economic issues. That they stayed united for that long surprised many statesmen. Horace Greeley in his TRIBUNE, September 5th, 1860, wrote: "Whenever a considerable section of our Union is resolved to go out of the Union, we shall resist all coercive measures to keep them in. We hope never to live in a Republic when one section is pinned to another by bayonets. Those who rush on to carnage to defeat the separation demanded by the popular vote of the Southern people would clearly place themselves in the wrong." And I believe the North was wrong to coerce the South. Southern statesmen sent peace messengers to Lincoln and he refused to see them. All the South wanted was her independence. A tyrannical and wicked empire driven by the Lincoln administration sent the bayonet to FORCE the South to remain in the empire. There is a lot more to uncover about this terrible revolution and conquest of the Southern people. If you would like to discuss some more, just write back. I will try to share with you what I have learned. In any case I would urge you to read the speeches by Ohio Congressman, Clement Valandigham, who spoke out against the tyranny and usurpation by the Lincoln administration right in Congress! The CONGRESSIONAL GLOBE records contain these and others. Thanks for listening! For a Free South Under the Lord Jesus Christ, (or the same for the whole USA, D.V.)
