If anyone, researching the Wright, Coate, Jay or Evans families in Newberry - has a Mary born 1809 that you can't place - I am missing the maiden name of my GG-Grandmother Mary. Mary married Mark Coppock around 1828 in SC - they then moved to GA-TN and arrived in Benton County Alabama in 1834. Mark's parents Isaac and Ann (Haworth) Coppock had been disowned by the Quakers at the time of their marriage so Mark and Mary's marriage would not have been in the Quaker Meeting Minutes. I have a John Coppock living in the household of William Wright in 1850 in Benton County, AL. I have the names listed above on Wills and other documents for my Coppocks before they left SC (my group stayed in the South). I think it is likely that my Mary was from one of the families listed, as marriages usually occurred among neighbors in those days. Thanks for any ideas! Jeri
