Hello out there, My name is Lori and I am an African-American woman living in Stuttgart, Germany. I have just started a genealogical research on the maternal side of the family. My grandmother, Mary Gilliam, was born in Newberry, SC on Nov 29, 1890. Her parents names were Pink and Sally Gilliam (I think). She eventually married Albert Fowler of Williamston,SC. I have heard that we have Cherokee and maybe Geechee in our blood. If anyone has any information on this line, could you please let me know? Also, if someone has access to the 1900 Newberry Census, I understand (thanks, Jim!) that there is a family with a 10 year old girl named Mary.
