Thanks, Vicki :-) I encountered a similar situation with my great grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Evans, in Clinch Co., Ga. He died in 1947 and apparently the death certificate was 'lost' between the funeral home and the local courthouse :-) The Probate Judge is a very good friend of mine and the two of us looked at every piece of paper in the records to no avail.
