    3. Hi Does anyone have information on the DEWALT family? My gggg-grandmother was Mary Dewalt born approx 1810 in Maryland. Later found in Newberry SC. Spouse's name Monday Kinard of Newberry. Daughter named Rebecca Kinard Bridges b. around 1835 also of Stony Battery township in Newberry. Joan

    3. Hi, Joan: I have a Caroline Nancy Dewalt, born 1829, died 1861. I don't have any information on Caroline's parents. She was married to Orlando Benedict Mayer, born 1818, died 1891. He was a physician and surgeon before and after the War Between the State, and also a writer. (See Mayer Family Sketch.) Many of his books and poems were burned in a fire in Newberry in 1907.
