Does anyone have any information about Rev. Elijah Pierce LAKE of the Newberry Dist. SC? I have a Sarah LAKE age 15 who was in the household of my ancestor John Baylis CLARKE, Jr and his family in the Anderson, SC 1850 census. His name was Elijah Pierce LAKE There is an Elijah LAKE in the 1800, 1820, and 1850 census for Newberry Dist. John CLARKE named his third son Elias LAKE CLARKE I am interested in finding the connection between Elijah LAKE of Newberry Co. SC and John CLARKE of Anderson, SC. Were they related or just friends? My father, Robert LAKE CLARK inherited the middle name of LAKE. He told me that it came from a preacher. So I know this has to be the right man. Elijah LAKE might be a clue in finding the ancestry of my CLARKES of Anderson Co. SC. Any information about the LAKES and a CLARKE connection with Newberry Co will be appreciated. Traci, Thanks for all that you are doing. I know that this is a time consuming job. Especially now, getting it started. I am researching the following names, most of which lived in Newberry pre-revolution: Young, Hunter, Carmichael, Thompson, Worthington, Summers, and Brown. My known Revolutionary ancesters were James Young and Nathan Hunter I have very interested in the Prosperity ARP church and would like a picture of the Church before it was torn down. Does anyone have a picture scanned that I can put on my homepage? I visitted the church while it was being dimantled and took a picture but would like a picture of it in its original condition. Thanks, Annabel Ballew http://www.mscomm.com/~ballew/home.htm
I have a Drayton Ham in my Newberry family line that I know very little about. Does anyone have any information on Drayton? He married Nancy Long, daughter of Latimer W. Long and Lula Werts/Wertz. Latimer was the son of George Long (d. 1862) and Susan Werts/Wertz. I do not have Ruth Busby, but I do have a Henry Busby; I have no information on him either. He married Willie Summer, daughter of James Andrew Summer (1825-1918) and Mary Stoudemire (1832-1901). I have several Harmons but no John Leonard. (I have John Middleton Harmon who died at 21). If anyone knows anything about any of these people, I would really appreciate the help. I'm also happy to share information. Hi, I am looking for church records from the early 1800's for LOWER DUNCAN'S CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH? I have relatives who were buried in the cemetary by this church (in 1807 and 1811). I am assuming that my relatives were members of this church, and am interested in records that show members' births, marriages, deaths, etc. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Sally Swinford Egland (segland@aol.com)
I am looking for the family and ancestors of JOHN RICHARDSON b. circa 1780s. Married ELIZABETH CATHERINE ...?... b. 1791 (mother SCOTS and father GERMAN) Were in Marion Co., GA by the 1840s. Children: MARY b. 1831, MAHALA b. 1833, GEORGE W. b. 1836-7. All the children born in GA. PLEASE NOTE: This may not be all the children of John and Eliz. Richardson OR this could be a second marriage for both. Age of Eliz. gives hints of these two suggestions. John died before 1850. Eliz. continued to farm the land in Marion Co. until her death between 1880-90. The 1880 census was the last census where her name is recorded. There may be a connection to SIMON PETER RICHARDSON of Newberry, SC. He was b. c. 1818 in Newberry, SC, son of PETER RICHARDSON of the same county. PETER and JOHN RICHARDSON may have been brothers or close kin. I would like to know about this relationship to Peter Richardson family. My grandmother said that we were kin. Nothing is confirmed with data. If anyone knows this family or has some connections to this family, please e-mail me. I cannot find a paper trail for anyone mentioned except Mahala Richardson who was my gg-grandmother. Nora SEARCHING: PHELPS, WEST, BRUNSON, MCLEOD, CLARK, PALMER, RICHARDSON, LEE (two lines), BROWN, HICKS, CHAPPELL, SCOTT and many more. All came to GA from SC, NC, VA, KY, NY, CT and moved on to FL, LA, TX. SC families: BRUNSON, PALMER, LEE, PHELPS, RICHARDSON and one unknown German surname.
