I am from the Coat/Coate side of this. A ton of Coate mar. Coppock and vise versa. I would suggest you contact Gary Coats. He may have what you are looking for on the Coppack's. He is a very agreeable fellow and may be part of this SCHNEWBER-L ???? So if he was b. 1817, likely it was in Ohio. The Wrights and Coats/Coates/Coat families have intermarried in great numbers. Thanks for the info. DJ

Bob, Genealogists are in bad need of an easy way to transcribe the original census records. Some originals are clear and some are eyball shattering. How ever, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and perhaps you can help or use the information later. There is a suburb of Boston which contains the Eastman Software, Inc, 600 Technology Park Drive, Bellerica, MA 01821. They have a computer program that has the capability of transcribing the Census if they can get the word out on "Imaging for Windows" which S-K is using on their Census CDs There are some problems for some "end users", like me: 1. I need to know how to 'erase' annotations such as text or highlighting, should I make a mistake. 2. I need to know how to accurately position any 'annotations'. 3. I need to know how to eliminate the background of the original document, while leaving the 'annotations' in place. If only a few of the genealogists were able to develope "overlays" for some of the Census sheets, the study of genealogy would be greatly accelerated. I have 'suggested this before, on the net, but all it did was to generate a lot of 'hate mail' ( It seems the transcribers either want to do all of a counties reports, or none at all) I now dump this in your lap because you represent the future of genealogy and the fact that you live not very far from Eastman and might be able to meet the engineer that developed "Imaging for Windows". I realize that this may all be Greek to you now, it is of utmost importance to future genealogists who need to be able to view indexed census for any census year, for any county , which to my knowledge is not yet available. If I have not made the problem clear, it is only because I am not fluent enough and perhaps I can improve in the future I shall risk some more 'hate mail" by sending this note to other people who might also be interested in genealogy. Thanks for listening ! L&S, Bob Davis Vancouver, WA
I have a neighbor who was a Wright. She's real knowledgeable about the Wright family, too. She was raised up around Ora,S.C. but has been in Clinton,SC since she married a Holland. There is quite a bit of information about the Wright families in the Holland History. Perhaps this might help a bit. Taken from G.L. Summers book NEWBERRY COUNTY SC-HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL ANNALS WRIGHT- John Wright, who had come from Camden District with the Quakers, lived on Bush River. He died about 1790, leaving children: John, Joseph, Nathan, the wife of Isaac Cook, the wife of Isaac Hillingsworth, William Thomas, Isaac. The son, John, died before his father's death, leaving children, one being Jesse Wright. Joseph had a son, John. Nathan was the father of William Wright. Isaac cook and wife had a son, Joseph and a daughter, Rachel. All of these families moved with Quakers to Ohio, some going to Indiana, those that were living at the time of migration. Nathan Wright (son of John, Sr.) died in Newberry District about 1805 , leaving a family, and his widow being Sarah Wright. James Wright, a native of Ireland, settled in Newberr District, where he died on Jan. 3, 1825. His wife, Lucy, died 1824. They are buried at old Tranquil Cem, 7 mi. NE of Newberry Court House. There are also listed Zaccheus Wright and Alexander Wright. Have you tried the Dutch Fork Website---family bios??? Valeria Wigington
DJ, as a matter of curiosity, are you speaking to the Wright family in Newberry,S.C. - the Mr. Wright who used to raise Peacocks? I am certainly a descendant of the Quakers who came to Newberry, but not of the lines that you mention. I am descended from PARKINS, MILBOURNE, PETERSON, RICHARDSON, ROGERS, and prob. several others, but those are my main ones. I have found it quite difficult to search them; I only wish I had known there were from Newberry when I lived there many years ago!!! It would have been much easier! Some of mine did leave but many of them stayed. Godspeed... Dolores M. Hi DJ. I prob. should keep my nose out of this as I don't know anything either except we have a James Wright b. abt. 1817. One census shows SC. and 1 shows OH. I even mention this because James son Charles mar. Irene Coat, d/o Miles Coat, b. Newberry. Miles family came to Miami Co., OH. Miles (and bro. William) eventually moved to the border of White and Pulaski Co., IN as did James and family. I have put in a fair amount of time on the Coat but went nowhere on the Wright. Sorry that's all I have! DJ, I am sure I have no help. The only WRIGHT I see in my file is James WRIGHT who owned land adjacent to Thomas McConnell and Archibald Chapman on Cannon's Creek, c. 1815.
I can't believe I'm the only person on this list with connections to Newberry Quakers (as well as half the German immigrants). When the Quakers fled the south around 1800, mine stayed in Newberry.
