    3. I've noticed a couple of postings recently about the Stubbs family. Forgive me if this has already been mentioned. Stubbs family researchers may be interested in the 1964 book by Leonardo Andrea and Joseph Edward Hill entitled "Abstracts of Divisions of Estates of Stubbs and Allied Families of Marlboro County, S.C." I don't have a copy of the book but just of a few pages from it, but I think it may be very useful. In it, reference is made to another book, which I don't recall having ever seen--"The Descendants of John Stubbs of Cappahosic, Gloucester County, Virginia, 1652" by William Carter Stubbs, 1902. Another book which I have seen which makes reference to this same 1902 book and which gives about a six page summary of the Stubbs family has a title like Burch, Harrell and Allied Familes. Unfortunately, I don't have the name of who wrote it. All of these indicate that the Stubbs family originated in (were foresters in) the Royal Forest of Knaresborough, Yorkshire, England. >From some source (unverified) I have that Rebecca Connor, wife of John Stubbs and mother of William Stubbs, was a daughter of Thomas Connor, Sr., b. 1678 in Maryland and Capt. during Colonial Wars, d, August 4, 1778 at 90 years, and Margaret Cleary.
