Thank you, Mark >> Mark I don't know when Marlboro County begin but in a book "The History of Marlboro Co. with traditions and sketchs of numerous families", by Rev J. A. W. Thomas first published in 1897 he tells "about 1750 Nathaniel Spears, a native of England, came to Virginia. While there he married Lidia Wise, and soon came to Carolina and staked down upon the banks of the Three Creeks. ........" I don't have my copy of the book yet so I don't know more specific details about the beginnings of Marlboro Co. Maybe someone else can tell you more.
