Sweatt, Josephine Sports LATTA -- Mrs. Josephine Sports Sweatt, 82, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at a Dillon hospital. Mrs. Sweatt was born in Marlboro County on Oct. 2, 1921, a daughter of the late Joe and Lily Mae Turner Strickland. She was a homemaker and member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Kannaday's Funeral Home of Latta. Surviving are her husband, Wallie Sweatt of the home; sons, Grady Sports and Randy Sports, both of Latta; daughters, Shirley Herring of Latta, Betty J. (Coley) Clark of Augusta, Ga., Frances Jones of Latta, Barbara (Burton) Bryant of Harlem, Ga., Linda S. (Earl) Bullard of Latta; daughter-in-law, Connie Sports of Columbia; brothers, Robert Turner of High Point, N.C., Tommy Turner and J.C. Turner, both of Latta; sisters, Bessie Rewis and Elizabeth Lane, both of Latta; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Roland Turner; son, Emerson Sports; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Kannaday's Funeral Home in Latta. Memorials may be made to Latta Rescue Squad, 107 W.
