    3. Searcy, Mabry Taylor BENNETTSVILLE -- Services for Mr. Mabry Taylor Searcy, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at First United Methodist with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003 at their residence on 107 Usher St. Memorials may made to Hospice of Marlboro County, P.O. Box 474, Bennettsville, S.C. 29512, or to The National Alzheimers Disease, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, S.C. 29202. Whitner-Evans Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Searcy died Wednesday Sept. 3, 2003 after a long illness. Born in 1913, he was the son of the late John Robert and Blanche Bell Searcy. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities including choir member for 35 years, Sunday School teacher and treasurer. After retiring from farming for 35 years, he worked as superintendent of the Marlboro Country Club for 10 years. A native of Palmetto, Fla., Mr. Searcy moved to South Carolina in 1935. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and outdoorsman. Mr. Searcy is survived by his wife of 65 years, LaHentz Quick Searcy, and three children: sons, Donald, M. Searcy and wife Loretta of Denton, Texas, David J. Searcy & wife Betty of Florence and a daughter, Marcia S. Cleveland and husband Scott of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a nephew, Robert Searcy of Seffner, Fla. Mr. Searcy was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Searcy. submitted by Helen Lane Wiggins
