    3. Hasty, Betty Wallace CAROLINA SHORES, N.C. -- Betty Wallace Hasty, 71, of Sunrise Court, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at her residence. She was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Marlboro County, a daughter of Roxie Miller Wallace and the late J.L. Wallace. She was predeceased by her daughter, Stephanie Hasty in 1994; a sister, Marcella W. Rouse; and two brothers, Jimmy P. Wallace Sr., and Burnett M. Wallace Sr. She was a graduate of Coker College and received her Master's degree in Speech Pathology from Winthrop College. She was a retired teacher and speech pathologist with Horry and Brunswick County, she also worked for Pee Dee Speech and Hearing in Myrtle Beach and Marion. She retired also as the Horry County Speech and Hearing Coordinator. She was awarded the Outstanding Young Educator in Horry County, and an active member of Little River United Methodist Church. Survivors include her mother of Bennettsville; her brothers, Fred L. Wallace Sr. of Bennettsville, Hewitt M. Wallace Sr. of Laurinburg, N.C.; her half brothers, Manning Driggers, Clarence Wallace, and Dennis Wallace all of Bennettsville; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26. at Sunset Memorial Park in Bennettsville, with Rev. Paul Woods officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.
