Hi all, First thanks Victoria for the kind words they are greatly appreciated. No use in storing documents away it is so much better to share them. Please don't forget my first question on dower rights if anyone has exceptional knowledge in this time frame and area. Thanks Okay, now on to the Johnson question. I keep getting this feeling that Milley ROLLO w/o William could be a JOHNSON. If you visit the following url there is a great write up on the Johnson line by Harold Johnson. http://www.rootsweb.com/~valunenb/f0johnso.htm Also there appears to be a heavy influence in the naming of the Rollo children from the Godbold line. Here is what I have from that angle and with the Johnson name being present it is a possibility but I am also checking now the FLOYD line that may of caused this. Marriage and Death Notices from Columbia, South Carolina Newspapers, > 1838-1860 > Palmetto-State Banner > Issue of March 18, 1851 > page 285 > Marriages & Deaths, Columbia, SC Newspapers, 1838-1860, p.289 > Married, in Marlborough district, S. C., on Thursday the 13th ult., by the > Rev. Thomas Cook, Mr. Abram Godbold Johnson to Miss Anna Thomas, all of > Marlborough. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS LINE I know there was a well-traveled road between Marlboro and Marion City but I feel that my Rollo's either directly or indirectly connect to the Godbold's. Without knowing the first two son's names under John H. Rollo I am not totally sure about Nice being a Godbold. I am thinking and I mean only thinking that Milley may have been a Johnson. The Johnson's married into the Godbold line. On the Johnson/Johnston angle I found the following by a Sheran Johnson: ? ID: I461 ? Name: Matthew Johnson ? Sex: M ? Death: BEF. 1782 Marriage 1 Judith Johnson Children 1. Archer Johnson b: 27 DEC 1734 in St Peters Parish, New Kent Co, VA 2. Absalom Johnson b: 30 MAY 1737 in New Kent Co, VA 3. James Johnson b: 3 APR 1739 in New Kent Co, VA 4. Milley Johnson b: 7 MAY 1753 in New Kent Co, VA >From what I have so far the only Godbold line that is anywhere near the Rollo's is the Jesse Godbold & Elizabeth Evans line. I found that Gasaway Godbold and his brother Nathan Godbold sons of Jesse & Elizabeth were in Kershaw Co. when my Rollo's were. . The wife of Samuel Annaias Godbold is an Elizabeth Johnson. Is there some connection to the Matthew Johnson line? Is this the same James Johnson/Johnston? Have a great evening Bushy
